  • News Update March 10th 2009

Woooow, seems like an eternity since we last gave you a sneak peak at what’s going on at Genet HQ these days. In fact, it has been almost a whole year, so we’re way overdue for an extensive news update!

Biggest news we have to announce is without any doubt the signing to the label of one of Belgium’s finest and hardest working brutal metal acts: CRIMSON FALLS! We are very proud to say that we will be releasing the band’s second full length album very soon! The album is called “Fragments of Awareness” and the release date is set for April 4th 2009, be sure to mark that in your agenda’s! The cd’s arrived at Genet HQ today, and they look good! You’ll be able to pick up a copy at the CRIMSON FALLS merch table on their upcoming shows already! The album was recorded at the end of 2008 at the CCR studio in Zulte by Kris Belaen. Bass was recorded by Svenchi ABORTED! Artwork by the masterful hands of Svencho ABORTED for Avernus Design! The album will hit you like a brick, we’re sure of that, so be present at one of two exclusive release shows: one at JH Wollewei in Turnhout (April 24th) and one at Velokot in Oostende! We’ve got the legendary ORIGIN (http://www.myspace.com/origin666) lined up for that one, so keep an eye out for more information! A sneak preview of the new CRIMSON FALLS album has been online since March 2nd on the new and improved http://www.myspace.com/crimsonfalls !

Both RAFFLESIA and NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY have a brand new release planned for this year! We hope to have both out just before summer. Both bands are eager to present their new stuff to their fans, and so they’re both planning tours in support of the new albums! Keep an eye on their myspace pages http://www.myspace.com/rafflesiametalcore and http://www.myspace.com/nothinggoldcanstay for updates on their upcoming releases and tours!

The Westhoek’s finest melodic metalcore act BLOOD REDEMPTION have been undergoing some serious line-up changes lately, but are back stronger than ever! Both their vocalist and bass player decided it was time to move on and set other priorities, and after a lengthy and well deliberated search, they were replaced by AVB on bass, and Nabil, former vocalist of US metalcore act AT THE FUNERAL! The band is looking for shows everywhere, so have a look at http://www.myspace.com/bloodredemptionh8000 and book them!

DMD’s pride JERUSALEM THE BLACK have decided to build in a show hiatus into their agenda’s in order to be able to fully concentrate on writing new, kickass songs for their upcoming debut full-length. We expect no less than the Apocalypse poured in music for that album, so keep your eyes and ears wide open for news about that one!

MAUDLIN and KINGDOM are both doing very well! MAUDLIN has been playing a lot of cool shows, including a short but powerful European tour last summer, since the release of the critically highly acclaimed album “Ionesco” last year! They have already written a lot of music for “Ionesco” successor, so expect news about that soon! They are also planning a new European tour next summer, so check out http://www.myspace.com/maudlinrocks and get in touch! Due to the busy schedule of AMENRA, KINGDOM hasn’t really played all that much shows. Instead, they have been working on new songs and a brand new live set, that they will present on TODAY at Recyclart, Brussels when they open for CULT OF LUNA! Some really cool shows in Germany and Poland (Asymmetry Fest) are scheduled as well!

PSALM recently celebrated the first anniversary of the release of their EP “Manifest”. They have put all the songs of that EP on their MySpace http://www.myspace.com/psalm! Bass player Corvus got endorsed by Mayones basses, and is very proud of that! Needless to say that we are as well. Get in touch with PSALM to book them, they won’t disappoint!

We have a lot of really cool shows planned for the first half of 2009, and we hope to welcome as many of you as possible on one or more of these occasions! All of our shows, more information and full line-ups can be found in the “events” section on www.genetrecords.com!

Last but not least, we want to inform you that we are currently working really hard to get only the best bands over to Ieperfest this year! The festival will be located at the same spot as last year, and is set for August 28,29 and 30! Expect the first list of names at the end of this month! We hope you’ll all be present and make Ieperfest 2009 even better than all previous editions!

    Speak soon,
    Team GENET
