Schaduw, die naam kies ik, omdat ze bij me past. Donker en vluchtig. Een stukje nacht overdag. En hoe hard de zon ook straalt, er zal altijd wel ergens een schaduw zijn...

So lost within my own darkness
i fail to notice or acknowledge
the light that surrounds me
Hearts opened wide to me
while i keep mine
imprisoned in shadow
Souls that have
bared witness to what i am
and have never wavered
yet i painfully shy away
from their warm embrace
So deep is my mistrust
So lacking is my ability to believe
in myself, let alone others
i create distance
where none should exist
The cries within me
to stop this madness
echo through my very being
yet seem to fall
enevitably upon deaf ears
This fight is not between
light and darkness
but for the ability to trust
and it is a very
cold and lonely battlefield
i have made for myself
